Hi, I'm Kristy Your Dog Trainer

“I started wander paws in 2017 when I had my first dog (fur baby) Zoe. My training with Zoe went so successfully that my dad came to me when he got a new puppy.

His puppy had all the problems. Pulling on a leash, not coming when called would jump up on people, excesive barking, crying when I left alone, played too aggressively with other dogs, chewed furniture, and shoes, and bolting out of the door the second it opened up.

After successfully training my dad’s new puppy, word spread, and I’ve been training dogs (and their owners) in Halifax ever since! The WanderPaws method builds successful communication with your pup so you can have a beautiful, loving relationships with your dog.

I can’t wait to support you and your dog live more harmoniously.”

Common Questions I Get With My Dog Training

My dog pulls all the time! Can this actually be fixed?

The Problem:
Leash pulling can make walks stressful or even dangerous. It’s often caused by overexcitement, lack of structure, or inconsistent handling.

How WanderPaws Solves It:
Week 2 of our program is entirely dedicated to leash confidence. We teach both you and your dog how to walk together without tension literally. Using reward based guidance, redirection techniques, and body language cues, we help your dog understand that calm walking = freedom and fun. Walks become enjoyable again for both of you.

The Problem:
Many dog owners feel like they’ve missed the “training window,” especially if their pup has already picked up some bad habits.

How WanderPaws Solves It:
It’s never too late. At WanderPaws, we don’t believe in cookie cutter solutions or guilt trips. We meet you and your dog exactly where you are. Whether you’re starting with a wild puppy or an older dog set in their ways, our personalized approach ensures training fits your dog’s learning style and personality. Week by week, you’ll see real progress and build a better bond along the way.

The Problem:
It’s scary and frustrating when your dog takes off the moment they’re free. Whether it’s chasing smells, squirrels, or just ignoring your voice, unreliable recall can be a major safety issue.

How WanderPaws Solves It:
In Week 4 of our training program, we zero in on reliable recall. So your dog learns that coming back to you is always the best option. We teach you how to build a strong recall using positive reinforcement, high value rewards, and games that make returning to you fun and automatic. You’ll also learn how to practice in progressively more distracting environments so your dog responds no matter what.

As dogs grow new, pesky behaviours like jumping, barking, nipping, leash pulling can pop up. Most dogs at this age are testing their boundaries and it’s critical to provide clear guidance to stop these behaviours in their tracks.
